Another Recovery Update ... plus another freebie!

I'm calmer now ... I've gotten some sleep! lol For those of you who would like more info, here's the scoop of what's gone on.
Apparently the EHD had a very small corruption in a critical location, which made it impossible to mount the file systems (MTFS) on either windows or linex, but the directory structure and files were still there. So, in essence - I did get very lucky.
Mike is now using a program called "Recover My Files" and you can find HERE and it's only $59.95! So cheaper than the other. You download it, it runs thru your pc and if it can recover anything, it shows you a list of what is recoverable. Only then, if you want to save them - do you have to pay! So, the nice part I guess is that if it's not recoverable, you're not out money on top of everything else.
Mike does says you should have some knowledge of files systems to work with this program. Or, you'll have to do quite a bit of "help file" reading. It's an Australian company and he claims that they make some of the best software (in his experience) and is *positive* he'll get most, if not all of it. It's currently recovering 85,771 files (about 120 gigs) and it's going USB to USB on the same machine, so it's not as quick as I'd like it to be! It is, however, picking up ALL types of files - not just photo ones!!
Storms are coming ... I hear the grumbling in the sky! Keep all those fingers crossed that we don't lose electricity!
So, here's a little blog giftie I made to pass the time and try to keep my sanity intack! It's also a "thank you" for all of you who have been so kind and supportive through all of this! Honestly, you guys have helped me more than you can imagine!!
I included a bonus overlay which will in one of my next overlay packs! I hope you enjoy it!
Again, thanks for all the awesome comments! I'll keep you updated, keep those fingers crossed!! *smiles* Oh, and don't forget to scroll down for the other freebies.
Hugs,
Babette

Oh, KEWL! I get to be first!
Thank you for the LOVELY charms, I just love that kitty one, and for the overlay. A bonus goodie in my book!
So glad to hear you are making progress. Like I told you, I have a good guy feeling on this one :-). I'll keep my fingers crossed still. And tell Mike I said "he ROCKS!".

Ann (hugs)
Dang, girlie! When it rains, it pours! I am so sorry you are having to deal with all of this, and I'm praying to St. Anthony to help you find all of your lost files.
Thank you so much for the fabulous goodies - I wish you weren't making these for us out of frustration {{{{{hugs}}}}}}
Thank you! Your blog post will be advertised on the DigiFree Digital Scrapbooking Freebie search engine today (look for timestamp: 01 Aug [LA 12:00am, NY 02:00am, UK 07:00am, OZ 05:00pm]).
I can't believe you're still giving out freebies when you've lost so much!! Just a testament to the kind of gal you are. About a year ago, I knocked off a full external hard drive which was full of over 500 gb of scrap stuff, including all my kits, etc. I can so identify with the feelings you had about whether or not we are "too" attached to our computer. As for me, I KNOW I am!! LOL On the other hand, being disabled and not able to get out very much, where would I be without it?!?
Hope all goes well and you can recover most of your things. Feel free to email me if there is anything I can do to help. Now...I'm off to buy your latest grab bag that I just gotta' have!
Blessings,
Sally
Hi again, Babette. I forgot to mention that I saw your grab bag on Simply Reveal. Great site, isn't it? Also, I wanted to thank you for the lead on the online backup. I'm going to check into it and see if it back-ups external drives along with internal. After losing all that stuff, $6.00 a month sounds like a deal to me!!

What unusual shapes. Couldn't pick a favorite. Thank you.
Goodness, reading about your computer troubles, what can I possibly say? Hang in there.
Thank you for the freebie, woohoo! I am starting to think we digiscrappers are pretty tough on our computers, I've read so many similar stories. My hard drive lost a sector, but I didn't realize it, started a backup and by the time I realized it didn't look right I had overwritten some of my backed up data with nothingness. Talk about a nightmare! I think I recovered it all from various sources, but it took a solid week of work. I now have two external backups and Carbonite. Not going there again, it's certainly a frustrating feeling. I am so glad you seem to be able to recover your data, it sure can make you nuts, can't it?
