Monday Thoughts & a CU Sampler (#3) Blog Gift!

Hi All!

How was your weekend? It was pretty quiet here ... except for a storm that knocked our power out yesterday. I took that as a sign that I should step away from the PC and spend some "quality" time with Mike! We didn't do anything special ... just hung around the house, watched some Olympic Events, and had a nice "Sunday" dinner! I did get some work done Saturday, and chatted w/girlfriends on the phone ... always fun! :)

I want to thank everyone for the great comments ... seems like we're all trying to conserve gas as best is possible - and we're all pretty ticked off! lol I also want say "thanks" to everyone for the sweet comments posted about my work - it was all very touching and I smiled ready each one! You guys are awesome!

I'm still loading up products to DSW ... I seem to be slowing down! *smiles* I just can't do as many in a day as I used to. Of course, with my back ... that does interfere w/the process. But at this rate, I'm thinking it's going to take me another week or so before I've got it all done. *sigh*

*** TOPIC OF THE DAY ***

Was everyone as blown away by the Olympics opening show as I was? I've no idea how anyone is going to top that! I feel bad for England having to come up behind them ... I think I heard a groan from the coordinators there! lol

I've been thinking though (yeah, I know - dangerous stuff!); the Olympics is supposed to be non-political and all ... but are they really? I mean, is it possible to keep politics out from a world event such as this? There have been boycotts of the Olympics by nations in the past for various reasons - if the games are truly non-political, why was this done? In fact, many called for boycotts of the summer games in Beijing due to China's poor human rights record. One also wonders how the host cities are picked - there are rumours of brides, both monitary and sexual, from nations vying to be a host. Some countries are never considered due to their politics. Others are deemed too "poor" to host. So, are the Olympics really what they were supposed to be? Are the atheletes really making a dent in achieving world peace, or is that just a pipe dream?

Comments? Thoughts??

LOVE this new bag! Then again, I love all your bags. lol
We haven't watched a whole lot of the Olympics. I've personally never been a huge fan. I remember a few years ago they were in Atlanta. Lots of folks back home got caught up in the excitement. Then someone has to go & blow something up there. I think the intentions are great, and during that time period, things might change, but for the most part I don't really think it changes anything at all.

We had a lazy weekend here, too. Smoked some ribs & chicken on Sunday, forgot about 2 chicken breasts on the smoker until this morning..lol Yeah, they were all dried out, crispy. NASTY. Nick & the boys had a blast playing the XBox 360. We're in the final stretch before school starts back. Next Tuesday for Shane & Sean, then Justin goes on the 26th. *happy dancin here*

Hey sweetie! Thanks for another lovely gift! You are so incredibly sweet to share! I know that you are probably behind on creating due to losing those days while "Super Mike" was recovering your work and then for you to take the time to make us a gift..... you're really special!

By the way, you don't qualify as a vampire when you post before 3:00am.

Kari - thanks so much!! Yes, I agree ... great intentions, but not sure it does anything (well other than show off some amazing athletes!)

Hi, Babette! I wanted to comment about the Olympics - first of all, I was COMPLETELY blown away by the opening ceremonies. I believe that the Olympics DO help cross boundaries between countries. I bet there are hundreds of people in China right now who thought they would NEVER go there, discovering things they never knew!
There are always going to be politics, that's just life. There will always be countries too poor to host - there would be no stadiums, gyms, pools, etc. in come countries. That doesn't mean boundaries aren't being crossed. If one person is more enlightened about the world because the Olympics were in China this year, to me it's worth it! One person can change the world, look at Hitler or Osama Bin Laden. If only they had used their pwoers to end world hunger.
