Hi Everyone!

I hope you all are doing well. I've been a bit under the weather the last couple of days - and also trying to get more products uploading into DSW ... so I haven't been around as much as I would like. To those that have written me, if I haven't responded yet ... please know that I'll be getting to ALL of my emails. *smiles* Once again, thanks to all of you who have left me comments, here on the blog, at 4-shared, or in emails - it really means sooo much to me!! (((hugs)))

OH, and can JESSICA please email me? The email you left me is not working and my mail is being returned.

*TODAY'S RECIPE*

I thought it might be fun to share recipes! As many of you know, I'm 1/2 French ... and well, not to toot my own horn; but I am a pretty good cook ... that is when I find the time or inclination to cook! LOL However, Mike always thrilled when I make my wayinto the kitchen!! *smiles* Now, I rarely cook with actual "recipes" so I'm going to try hard to make some sense out of the
dishes that I share here. I also think it would be awesome if you guys shared some favorites of your own! It could be a recipe exchange of sorts! Wouldn't that be fun? Think of all the cool
new taste sensations we can all experience!

I thought I'd start with RATATOUILLE; since it's been made famous by Disney! Ratatouille is basically a stew and is typically served over rice or potatoes and some really good french bread!
Relatively cheap and very healthy - a vegetarian alternative for those days where maybe you're not in a "meaty" mood! The best part is that is doesn't really matter if you have more of one
veggie than the other - it all works! I like those types of dishes.

You'll need about a pound of the following veggies:

Zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, onions, tomatoes. Slice up the zucchine, squash; cube the eggplant, sliced and cut the onions into quarters & slice; dice the tomatoes (you can peel the
tomatoes, but I never do).

You'll also need:

3-5 cloves of garlic minced - depends how much you like garlic.
Herbes - there are mixes of herbs called "herbes de provence" but in lieu of that, try mixing some basil, thyme, and a bay leaf. You'll also need salt & pepper to taste.

Okay, here comes the fun!

First saute the onion & garlic in OLIVE oil in a LARGE pan until tender and browned. Set aside in a bowl. Next, saute the eggplant - when done, set aside with the onions. Now saute the zucchine until brown and tender. When's that ready - return the rest to the pan, add the diced tomatoes and the herbes and about 1/2 a cup of water (or veggie stock); cover and simmer for about 15 minutes. Check it and if you feel it needs to cook a bit longer (really depends how much youlike your veggies cooked) you can add a bit more stock and cover and simmer a bit longer. Add salt and pepper and you're done!

Now, serve it over rice or boiled potatoes and you've got a great meal! This will serve at least 4 people - and left overs taste even better!! Oh, those of you with kids .. this may be a way to get them to eat their veggies - remind them of the movie!

*TOPIC OF THE DAY*

{EDIT: I wanted to make sure and let everyone know that I'm not endorsing one party over another - just talking about my thoughts in general. Mike and I are very interested in BOTH sides and will also be watching ALL of the Republic Party Convention as well. This post does not intend to promote anyone, nor do I wish to offend anyone. Just my thoughts as we go along - and everyone is free to jump in and voice theirs. In fact, that would be very cool!}

I'm not sure how many of you have been following the Democratic Convention, but in this house it's been on EVERY TV in the house to ensure that nothing gets missed if we had to move from one space to another! lol Well, I have a few comments to make. First off, I was completely floored by Hilary's speech - she quite literally made me proud to be a woman. Her speech also had me thinking she would have made a great president. After hearing Bill, well - it's clear why they are a "power couple!"

My biggest suprise was Joe Biden. I expected a great speech from Bill (and boy did he deliver!) but, I didn't know much about Joe. I have to say, he turned me into a huge fan! He's such a "real" person and although I have never been an Obama supporter, my opinion of him was elevated by his choice of running mate. It's clear that this country needs strong leadership, and it's nice to see that the VP in this relationship won't be a "yes" man if elected. It's also quite interesting to note that many Hilary supporters aren't necessarily jumping on the Obama wagon ... this is going to be a very interesting few weeks until voting day! I'm anxious to see & hear what the McCain camp & the Republic Convention will do.

Oh, and how about that video tribute to the military by Stephen Speilberg? How heart wrenching was that? I swear, I don't remember ever crying during a convention! Between the film and Joe's speech - and his son's introduction ... in was tissue city for me!

So, what are you thoughts? What did you think of it all?

*FREEBIE TIME*

You've made it! I hope you've had fun along the way! LOL Today's blog gift is CU Sampler #06. This will be available through Sunday.

The heart frame was created using one of my suede styles, the leather button w/one of leather styles. The envelope is a new template that I haven't released as of yet, as is the card tucked
into it. The overlays consist of one border, one just texture (looks really good when applied), and the other is a just a bit grungy. I've included the threads, with and without shadows for the button; as well as including one button all complete. The clip has a leaf as decoration - figured with fall coming it would be cute! lol There's also a distressed arrow, and a cute scroll label for journaling!!

(((Sorry, this offer has expired)))

Okay guys, enjoy the gift - and I hope you consider making a purchase ... I promise you'll be happy with your purchases!! I'm off to bed now ... again! You all take care!

Hugs,
Babette

Thanks for the freebie! That's really generous. I've added the suede style to my Kaboodle. ;)

Great freebie, thanks for sharing.

As for the convention, haven't watched any of it. They are going to tell you what they think you want to hear (both sides, not just this side) and in the end, it never adds up to what they do...

Thanks for sharing! I love the envelope!

Don't forget that not all of your customers are fans of the same party.

Thanks so much for the FAB freebie!!! Oh, man, I wish I could use your styles (and actions)! *sigh* I'm looking forward to playing with all these goodies ...
Oh, and especially thank you for the button threads to go along with the buttons! That's just what I want to offer people!!!!!!

Dear Anon (10:46),

Oh, I probably didn't make myself clear enough - I'm not a fan of any party really. I was just giving my thoughts on this convention thus far. I guess I find it very interesting how they try to sway people with emotion. In the end, my vote will go to the individual that I feel will help this country the most, not the party.

And to Cindy in FL - I have to agree, they do a whole of that too! lol It's the nature of the beast I suppose. It's left to us to figure out who we think it telling us the "most" truth. lol

Thanks everyone for the comments!

Now I have to remember what all you talked about.... LOL

That recipe sounds great, would make a great side-dish too....

I hope you feel better soon...

Thank you for the freebie!!!

You give us the best samplers! Now I'm not complaining, just explaining that I don't believe other designers put examples of their products with explanations of them like you do. I think that's one of the reasons that your products are so popular. Of course, it could be because you're such a sweetie!

Thank you for the great gift and for the wonderful sounding recipe. So sorry you've not been feeling well.

Hi sweetheart!

Hope you are feeling better and while I am on the fly as we are preparing to leave for Yosemite in the next couple of hours, I wanted to stop by and leave you some LOVE and to wish you and Mike a SAFE and FUN Labor Day weekend if you are traveling out and about during any of it.

I can't wait to get back and copy down your recipe - Robert LOVES to cook and will surely enjoy this as will I - THANK YOU!

Your CU goodies ROCK and I can't believe you are giving yet another sampler!!! DELISH and can't wait to try it out either!

REMINDER TO ALL: This is YOUR blog and you are FREE to speak your feelings! That is part of the BEAUTY of living in the US and enjoying the FREEDOMS that still exist!

I, too, watched the Democratic convention and cried A LOT! Yes, unfortunately our emotions are appealed to, but I think we all have pretty good GUT instincts as to who is being sincere and who is not MOST of the time!

I am proud to be who I am and when I communicate with people, I do not see color or class but THE HEART! We surely do need a POSITIVE change in our country and I am keeping hope alive in my neck of the woods. I avoid political talk as most people I know do NOT know how to respect the thoughts and feelings of others.

If we were to ALL think alike, then we would have been made robots rather than human beings who need to learn to live together as peacefully as possible despite our differences. I think that might be described as maturity, eh? ROFL!

Well, sorry to go on so but I guess you know by now that I can RAMBLE on a GOOD one!!!

Have a GORGEOUS day and THANK YOU again for the WONDERFUL CU treat Babette!

BIG HUGS,
Linda :)
